I have employed John Currie to complete house maintenance jobs over a 2 year period, John has been attentive to the original features of my house and has always completed work using a thorough and creative approach and expert home restoration skills. I recommend John for big and small jobs. He also quotes a fair price for all work completed. Veronika Jones, Darlinghurst.
John worked on our property (11 Denham Street, Darlinghurst) in late 2014, we were up against some very tight deadlines and completely overwhelmed with work that needed to be completed in order for us to sell our house in time to relocate to Terrigal in time for our son to start kindergarten in February 2015. We originally hired John to do some plastering work for us, some of which was in very tricky spaces but quickly realised his skill set was valuable to us in many other areas as well, such as painting the front of the house, carpentry, re-concreting/bagging the floor of our front porch and general DIY. John went beyond the call of duty, working long hours and weekends....we quickly found John was a real godsend and firmly believe we would not have been able to achieve our goals without him. John comes very highly recommended. He is a 100% reliable, incredibly conscientious and trustworthy and was completely honest, both with regards to the hours he worked and the capability/skill level he was able to offer for certain tasks. He demonstrated strong values and integrity and very much took his time to ensure high quality work was delivered in all that he did. I have since recommended John to two of my friends and my husband has engaged John to carry out some work for his employer. I would not hesitate to recommend John and re-hire him in a heart beat. Tracy Melonie.
We had heard of John's talents and most recently, we needed him to restore the two sitting rooms in our federation home in Darling Point. This required the complete stripping of all plaster, back to bare brick, re-plastering, painting and repairing 100 years of wear and damage on the original walls, cornice, architraves and ceilings. We knew John was more than up to the job as we had already seen his skills. John's work is meticulous. He is a talented painter and plasterer, but also a dab hand at all the odd jobs that come with restoring and renovating a home, from re-hanging doors and fitting window locks, to replacing glass panes and sourcing architectural hardware. His work is always tidy, timely and very reasonably priced. There is no praise higher than being admired by someone in your field, so when the building supervisor I hired to oversee the renovation of our bathrooms asked John to do the painting (rather than using his usual contractor), I knew I was on to a good thing. I couldn't recommend John highly enough, and continue to employ him for the long, ongoing restoration of our house. Clare Caldwell, Darling Point.
John Currie, proprietor of Sydney Home Restorations, has just finished a total re-paint of my 3-bedroom apartment. The work was exceptional. John and his fully-supervised assistant washed, patched, restored all compromised surfaces then painted all walls, ceilings, doors and architraves. The coverage is perfect. All door handles, light fittings, skirting boards, architraves (etc) were masked before painting commenced. No runs, overruns , splatters, dodgy edges or rogue paint spots anywhere. At the end of each day the site was left clean and tidy, at the end of the job the only evidence of Johns presence was the wonderfully refreshed paintwork. I'm aware, from work he has done for my daughter, that John's skills extend well beyond painting. From observation of that work as well as my own, first-hand experience, I can confidently describe him as a true professional.I have no hesitation in recommending him highly. Janet Caldwell, Kensington.
